Dragée is an investigation of the family archive through textile and food as a means to dissect personal history and reposition the past in the present. By placing found materials that I consume on a daily basis, the archive becomes digestible, a metabolic symbol of processing history and family relations through imagemaking. The bride and the groom (my father and mother) are overlaid by memorabilia and discarded items, such as tissue, invoices, and sweets. These rest on a metal tray, known for serving tea and coffee, which here acts as a frame and holder of the past that I am trying to reconcile with. All these layers represent my interpretation of a wedding—its rituals, residue, and bittersweetness.
